We have an exciting new opportunity to join our Workers Compensation team as a Claims & Return to Work Specialist in our Sydney Office.
The role works closely alongside a driven and highly successful team of Account Managers who will be aligned to the clients within your portfolio, and you will be reporting directly to the Head of Division.
You will act as the Return-to-Work Coordinator or Claim Specialist for clients, assisting to drive outcomes on open workers compensation claims. Your role will include handling the ongoing management of workers compensation claims and providing technical advice to clients around RTW and legal obligations for return to work in each Australian State and Territory.
Main objectives
· You will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of return-to-work programs and individual worker plans, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, organisational initiatives, and divisional business needs.
· Actively manage a portfolio of clients requiring RTW case management.
· Where required by the client, you will manage the weekly/fortnightly wage management process of injured workers with the relevant payroll departments.
· Provide case management advice and coaching to clients and injured employees regarding:
• Implementing early intervention and risk management for RTW services
• Utilising your knowledge andskills in return to work and injury management, and exceptional stakeholdermanagement skills, to drive optimal return to work outcomes
• Participate in Claims Reviews and have a high-level knowledge and skills in Claims Management, rehabilitation and return to work.
• Develop return to work plans that meet statutory and organisational requirements
• Conduct effective marketing, education and/or training of Return-to-Work standards, policies, procedures,and programs
• Co-operate with employer to enable compliance with any reasonable request relating to WHS
• Arrange and facilitate medical case conferences with GP’s and Specialists
In addition, you will assist Broker/s to:
• Meet face to face with the clients to explain return to work and claim requirements of different insurance policies, risks and coverage.
• Provide strategic claims advice to clients by being a primary point of claims contact, driving outcomes with the insurers, discussing strategies with the clients and ensuring agreed actions are confirmed with all parties and implemented.
• Develop return-to-work strategies with the client, insurer and other stakeholders
• Ensuring client satisfaction through the strategic implementation and execution of client retention strategies.
• Act as the Return-to-Work Coordinator for specific clients
Education & Qualification
· Allied health qualification or qualification from a relevant field
· Workcover & or WorkSafe/SIRA accredited RTW qualification
Knowledge & Experience
· Recent experience within worker’s compensation agents or personalinjury industry as a Return-to-Work Coordinator / Manager, Case Manager, orOccupational Rehabilitation Provider
· Experience or knowledge of injuries and the implementation of Return-to-Work Programs, within an organisational context
· Ability to manage multiple and complex physical and psychologicalclaims within tight deadlines
· Ideally having experience in delivering return to work servicesfor medium to large organisations
· Exceptional relationship building skills
· Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
· Ability to work autonomously as well as a part of a team
· Previous claims management experience with a broker, workerscompensation insurer, return to work coordinator with an employer orrehabilitation consultant; (Essential)
· Strong understanding of workers compensation legislation, policiesand procedures; (Essential)
· Strong organisation and negotiation skills;
· Previous experience using a CRM or invoicing database;
· Self-motivated with a proactive attitude; and
· Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
