Dealing with Stress
GSA focuses on the importance of a "Mentally Healthy" workplace and dedicates time and resources to protecting our staff. All GSA staff were invited to
attend a workshop was led by Meiron Lees at our office.
Meiron is one of Australia’s leading presenters and the award winning author of D-Stress, Building Resilience in Challenging Times. He shared his very interesting experience living in the midst of violent crime in South Africa and how he built resilience to cope with the threat of constant attack.
Meiron also inspired us with his personal battle fighting lymphoma. His personal insights were moving and reminded us of the importance of managing your
thoughts and harnessing the power of the mind.
What we learnt about stress was simple, yet memorable. We have 60,000 thoughts a day. 90% of those thoughts are repeated thoughts and 45,000 are negative thoughts.
Finding an alternative interpretation of a challenging situation can help shift our stress response to a better feeling.
The statistics were alarming. $15bn is lost in productivity each year due to stress. The costs of stress is only expected to rise.
His unique 3-step ‘Red Card’ technique has enabled thousands of employees worldwide to triumph over their challenges and better manage their stress. Our staff found this clever system to be a useful tool to realign our thoughts.
We enjoyed learning about stress and Meiron’s passion was highly motivating. The workshop was thought provoking and insightful. For more information; visit
